From Blogspot to WIX

I like blogpost, mainly of the ease of changing template and flexibility of customizing the templates and most components directly using code. And I'm honestly enjoy using this simple platform for so many years.

But like most things in life, we need to seek better opportunity.

WIX is a really dynamic website building platform. It's so dynamic, that I actually dislike the slow response all the time when I'm using the web editor. But it comes with lots of responsive and stunning templates, and ready-to-use and trendy components that beat blogspot. So I decided to stick with WIX for now.

The Journey and The Story

In my new site, these are the two main prefix that need to take note:

1. Journey - All food blogging posts will be tagged here.
2. Story - All of my thoughts, idea, inspiration and etc since I started blogging.

Since this is a completely new site, I still have quite some stuff to touch on. If you found something missing, any issue, or has any suggestion in the new site. Please feel free to let me know.

So What's Going to Happen to My Blogspot

When I started to design the site in WIX, I found one great obstacle: There is no way to migrate all my posts to WIX.

Unfortunately, WIX's web editor is not so friendly towards people like me who are very used to dealing with code. Even though blogspot provide the entire code of all blog posts that allow people to copy-paste into other place, but seems like WIX doesn't like that.

In short, I can't migrate any posts from blogspot to WIX without using the manual way.

I spent a great deal of time to copy-paste each blog content and uploads all images of my previous blogspot posts and re-create each blog post in WIX. And I'm just about half way towards completion....

This also give me an opportunity to re-work on my old blog posts to include information that are available on the latest posts.

So, I will keep my blogspot active for now until further notice. I will have to migrate all my blog posts from blogspot to WIX. Until then, there will be no new food blog posts.

In the future, I might consider deactivate my blogspot and any future access to this site will be redirected to my new website in WIX.

But please feel free to suggest any food place that caught your attention and wish to have some honest review on it.

Final Words

I really appreciate all the views and comments in blogspot so far, although it's not too much compare to other bloggers.

Every time I go to Genting, no matter which group I'm going with, for sure we would visit Starbucks that located right outside Maxims. Probably because of the environment where you get to enjoy a strong wind blow time to time, and it's so much better compare to air-con in the usual Starbucks around KL or PJ.

It's been years since I last came to Genting Highland. I haven't start blogging during my last visit and didn't notice how much cafe is available at that time. But I know that right now, there is definitely lots of cafe and Starbucks is not the only place with coffee (although I did went to Starbucks again for the good old time feel) that we couldn't find it in KL and PJ area and I was right.

Bubbles & Bites is one of the highly recommended restaurant and cafe among all other restaurants and cafe with similar rating. I heard of this name from my sister when I said I'm going to Genting. The review over the internet seems pretty good compare to other cafe and the look & feel of the cafe seems pretty nice and comfy. But the main reason that I pick this cafe is because there isn't too much of cafe choices like Bubbles & Bites that I'm willing to pay for the price. Other cafes are really luxury and too high class for me.

Pure White & Stylish Purple for the Decor

Bubbles & Bites provide a pure white environment for a really clean and neat feels. However, the whiteness of Bubbles & Bites are not dull as they are glazed with sparkling purple in certain corner. It's not just the classy look with decent white theme on tables, chairs and overall interior, dining in Bubbles & Bites allow you to make yourself relax & comfortable really much despite it's located inside the building, and many people are walking around all the time.

Perhaps you should visit at night for the darker environment with the styling purple lighting. You get to enjoy a much different ambiance and dining experience during night time. Best to get a glass of sparkling wine to call it a wonderful night.

Another added point of comfortable feels is the natural wind that came in from no where time to time. It wasn't hot, yet not too cold to the extend of not feeling comfortable. But you might want to take a jacket with you since you are in Genting anyhow. The natural air-con is not really strong or constant, as it just blew in once in awhile. But pretty much enjoyable compare to the air-con in other places. If you are looking for comfy seats with sofa, there is only one part that has such offer but it's near to where people passing by time to time. Other than that, I would suggest dining in the middle of the restaurant because the inner side allow you to enjoy more of the interior and able to see the outside. Which isn't too much of nice view in my opinion but still great to have an outside view and remind yourself that you are here to sit back & relax.

Simply Western Dishes But Extraordinary Gourmet Experience

Bubbles & Bites has the ordinary western dishes you can expect. Start with soups and variety light snacks as appetizer, follow by burgers, sandwich, pasta, pizza, some other mains, and adding some finishing touch for cakes & other desserts, with beverages such as coffee, tea, and juice.

Although the overall menu option contain simply western dishes but, however, Bubbles & Bites has two main selling points.

The first highly noticeable thing in the restaurant is the salad counter located on the left side of the entrance as you walked in which consisting all sort of colorful greenies, fruits, and topping choices that you can order and customize according to your own liking or simply choose from the menu if you not sure what type of salad you want to mix and match. Unfortunately, I was informed that I'm not allow to take picture on the salad counter, otherwise I'm sure it's going to be the best picture in this post.

The salad counter is simply (just notice I've been using the word 'simply' all the time) appealing. Even if you are not in the mood for salad, you will feel like getting some when your eyes gaze upon the beautiful salad counter.

And the second selling point is, if you happen to pass by and look into their kitchen which is just behind the salad counter and you can have a nice glass view into their kitchen before stepping into the restaurant, you will notice large batch of home made spaghetti are being put aside to dry off. Unlike many restaurant out there, Bubbles & Bites produce their own spaghetti and the best thing is, the quality is really, really good. There are also some plants around the corner which I'm not very sure what are they. I only know one of the plant is basil. That's explain why their ingredient is so fresh.

Bubbles & Bites also offer alcoholic drinks, range from beer, wine, sparkling wine and soda which is recommended by them. It's probably a good choice to enjoy a great moment of imported wines in such as cooling environment.

We were expecting whole plate of blackish thing before ordering the squid ink pasta, but were surprised to see that it's more like pasta in tomato sauce. Nevertheless, it doesn't disappoint us or anything despite not being the ordinary squid ink pasta we usually had.

The sauce is cooked with wine and tomato. Most of the time I'm only able to taste heavy and salty tomato sauce, although I can taste some other flavor in the sauce but I'm not sure what it is.

The one and main thing that I would miss is the squid ink spaghetti. It's a must try and I would definitely order their pasta for all my visits. The pasta deserve the name of soft, chewy, smooth, well cooked, and simply one of the best pasta I ever had. Combine with lots of fresh, tasty and well-cooked seafood on the plate, it's simply a great dishes that I highly recommend. If you are going to doubt how healthy this burger is going to be, let me tell you that it's just as you thought, there's nothing much healthy in this plate other than some rockets and avocado, and it's fried avocado.

For me, the only food that considered to be healthy is salad that consist of purely green veggie and fruits, without any sauces. If we seriously talking about healthy, this healthy burger has avocado, but it's deep fried. If it's raw then we could consider it healthy. And another factor is the beef, it's cooked with oil so there's hardly anything healthy about it. Unless they are using olive oil for cooking.

Apart of the name, this plate contain of good portion of tasty avocado fries, huge beef fillet with melted blue cheese on it, nice amount of rockets, and some sour cream for.... I'm not sure, I had it for the avocado fries. The blue cheese has great flavor, and at the same time really salty. I want the beef to be medium, which is as expected quite beefy but it taste really good and very juicy on each bite. But do beware that it can be really salty in overall.

Avocado fries is just alright. Still, I prefer the raw avocado and not really sure about the good thing about fried avocado.

One of the factor that this dish is known as healthy is because it doesn't comes with the bread. Since bread is mainly flour, it doesn't consider healthy or contain of good nutrition for you. You won't need the bread anyway since this dish is actually quite fulling. Lastly, I get to enjoy a cup of hot Cappuccino in such a nice environment. Taste wise, it's not a cup of Cappuccino that I'm going to miss it. It's lacking of the good coffee aroma, and it's slightly watery. The only thing that make it good is the strong coffee taste and a hot beverage in the cool environment.

This is not a great cup of Cappuccino that I would recommend. But if you are craving for a cup of strong coffee in the morning, you may give this a try.

For the purpose of trying out new cafe in Genting instead of depending on Starbucks for coffee whenever we are at Genting, I would say Bubbles & Bites gave us a great experience on special food, especially the pasta, and it's worthy paying a visit whenever you are at Genting Highland.

Bubbles & Bites located in the building of Genting Highland hotel. It's right opposite Good Friend Restaurant, and near to Ming Ren Restaurant.

I'm unable to provide the direction to the place as I'm not very familiar with the place. Sorry about any inconvenience caused.

Rating

Quality

Excellent. The praise all goes to the all high & mighty pasta. The soft, smooth, chewy and extremely tasty pasta is one worth dying for. Food option is consider ordinary but contain of it's own unique element that worth trying.

Portion

Good. As our lunner around 5pm, the portion is good enough that we don't really feel hungry throughout the night eventhough we still need to hide in the room for some light snacks around the midnight. If you are looking for good portion, fulling, and enjoyable once-in-awhile luxury dining, you chosen the right place.

Cost

Highly-Worthy. Slightly expensive, but not as expensive if you compare with other higher star rating restaurants around Genting that offer the same type of food.

In my opinion, I don't see much differences in terms of price compare with the same foods in KL or PJ. Considering the quality, Bubbles & Bites definitely deserve some thumbs up on this.

Service

Nice. Slightly slow serving. But I guess that's alright when the taste is really good and fresh.

In terms of customer service, waiters and waitress are well mannered and willing to provide recommendation and explanation on foods and drinks. But nothing like really friendly or some sort.

Environment

Excellent. Feeling neat and clean during day time, and feeling classy and stylish in the night time able to provide a different type of dining experience and ambiance to the customers. Now we are talking about a luxury dining that make your night enjoyable and unforgettable in a really good way.

The only time I can have buffet is when a group of people, and I have been craving for buffet for tooooooo long.... Here comes Umai-Ya~ yet another Japanese buffet style that allow you to enjoy all-you-can-eat Japanese food with decent quality.

About Umai-Ya

Umai-Ya is a name that has many meaning but the closest one that I could relate is "Delicious House". "Umai" means good or delicious, while "Ya" means house. Combining these two results in the idea that Umai-Ya is a full house of delicious and authentic Japanese foods.

The founder of Umai-Ya is a Malaysian who accidentally falls into the Japanese cuisine industry because of mere trying and helping on his friend's business. As time goes by, his love in Japanese developed deeply and ended up as his lifelong journey. The founder started his kitchen work without any knowledge in this field. As a result of his perseverance and strong principals to contribute his soul into Japanese cuisine, he had Japanese chefs as his mentor and work for J.W Marriot Hotel for 10 years to be able to achieve this result today.

Apart of authentic Japanese cuisine, food representation is his another strong point which you will see it really soon.

Damansara Uptown Outlet

Opened since 2007, this outlet has two floors that you can choose to dine in at whichever floor your prefer. At this trip, I only visited the ground floor because I'm with my family.

Before entering, I was wondering where is the entrance because there is one huge wooden board with some rope tied at several spots, we thought it's a wall or decoration but turns out it's the door. Once we step in, the walkway is full of authentic yet modern Japanese decoration. Not long before reaching the dining seats, we can see the Japanese tatami style place on our left but in my opinion, it's nothing really special in terms of overall look & feel, and incomparable with actual tatami style. Perhaps other outlet like KLCC has better environment. In the dining place, it's totally different and nothing to do with being Japanese style. It seems more like an ordinary place just for eating and somehow it's giving me the feeling of a karaoke box due to the dimmer lighting and also the cushion style wall.

Other than that, the seats are quite comfy and you can enjoy the sofa no matter which seat you take. Relaxing music and quiet environment able to make you feel much more enjoyable on a weekend lunch buffet. It's a little cold when we just reach the place, and it seems they turn down the air-con later when more people are coming in which make the place much more colder. So it's better to take a jacket with you especially when you are bringing any elderly person along.

Beware of food wastage and additional charges for that. These are all the drinks they have for buffet. Their ala carte menu has much wider drinks selection. You need to add additional RM12 for one cup of sake. The Ocha is quite tasty, full of original green tea taste. Orange juice is more like sugar water with orange "feeling". I'm not a person who enjoy alcohol, for me Tiger beer is just normal.

Umai-Ya offer lunch buffet on the weekend. So they have two sets of menu. Normally, if you dine in during week days or dinner time, you can only order food from their ala carte menu. In my opinion, you might as well go for their lunch buffet because their lunch buffet is RM58++ for a person, two or three of their dishes have already costs more than that price.

Senior citizens who are above 55 years old and children below 140cm height get to enjoy half price which is RM29.

Itadakimasu (Thanks for the food)~

Ordering is pretty simple. Once you are set on the table, asked for the menu in case the waiter did not get you one earlier. Pick a batch of foods that you want from the menu, write the food code as shown in the menu and the quantity on the order-taking paper on each table and pass to the waiter. Try to order as much as you could at one go so that it's easier for the kitchen to prepare and you don't need to wait too long. Side note, this is a lunch buffet and there was only one waiter taking order around the place. If he was not around, we can only wait until he appear. He usually appear within 2 or 3 minutes but you know, it's unbearable when you are really hungry.

One problem with the menu, each of us holding different menus and there are pen writing in the menu such as the amount of each type of food. There is one menu that written 2 pieces of sushi per order while there are other menu that written 6 pieces. Some other menus also have the same issue and occur in several type of foods. Guess they need to work on quality assurance not just on the food, but also on the menu.

Do note that their kitchen close at 2pm. So keep track of the time and make sure you order one last large batch of foods around 1.50pm if you can still eat. We start with some appetizers first. Clockwise: Soft Shell Crab Age (Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab), Chuka Kuroge (Seasoned Jelly Fish), Edamamee (Boiled Green Soya Bean), Itako Kyuli (Seasoned Baby Octopus).

Soft shell crab, other than most of the part is covered by fried flour, the part with the filling is very nice whether you eat it with or without sauce. I prefer without sauce thou. Edamammee and Seasoned Jelly Fish taste ordinary, no complain or anything. I think Baby Octopus is just fine, not too tasty and not too bad. I prefer it to be more fresh. Dragon Maki is a great choice for sushi. Tasty eel with thin slice of avocado on top of it. Just that the rice is a little hard. I would recommend this if you are going for sushi. A standard quality sushi. The Ebi Mentai (Prawn with some type of mayo and butter sauce) sushi is fully covered by the sweet mentai sauce. Can't taste much on the shrimp. Inari (fried tofu skin) sushi is nothing special, just taste good. The sushi rice is a bit hard and not really sticky. Gotta throw into my mouth as soon as I pick it up with chopsticks before the rice scatter apart. Another standard chawanmushi with good filling but taste pretty plain. You may take it as a warm food but taste not really great. Kaki Tofu Fried (Deep fried tofu with oyster filling) taste good with the sauce from the outside and the tiny oyster in the inside. Just that the flour is a little too much. Ebi Kushi Yaki (Grilled Prawn with Sauce) is another great choice if you love prawn. The big prawn is served with melted sweet & sour sauce around the shell. It's a little overcooked because the meat is a little stiff but not that bad. The problem with the sauce is it topped outside the shell, so after you get rid of the shell, there is no sauce in the inside of the prawn meat. Suzuki (Sea bass) is something really new to me. I don't recall taking any sea bass sashimi before. The presentation of the 5 layers of sea bass sashimi combined together like a flower is really well done, but it's not too fresh and tasty in the mouth. The texture is quite unsatisfying for me. Note that if Dynamic Kitty complain about fish, you should really hear it out. Saba Shioyaki (Grilled Mackerel Fish with soy sauce) is great too. No bone, not too salty, not covered too much by the sauce. Each bite is so full of the mackerel. Shiro Maguro, literally means white tuna. I'm not sure why the description of this dish is written as butter fish. Not sure if they are the same or it's just menu mistake or something. The quality is about the same with the sea bass. Salmon is slightly better in terms of freshness. But the meat and texture................... really need improvement. Sizzling Salmon is too full with sauce. It's written spicy sauce but I don't taste any spiciness at all. The sauce is too much that I can't really taste the salmon. Kani Tama Maki (Soft shell crab and egg seaweed sushi) is a good choice as well for small bite. Tasty seaweed and crunchy bites. Just throw the whole thing into your mouth, crunch, and enjoy. Hamaguri Miso (Japanese Bean Paste soup with Claim) is basically miso added with clams. The clam actually just served as additional stuff in the miso. Miso soup is just standard quality. Not too great, not too bad. Age Dashi Tofu (Deep Fried Tofu) is the one that I tried it once and I'm not going to order again. Age dashi tofu suppose to be crunchy from the outer skin and soft in the inner tofu part. But this whole age dashi tofu is too soft, and so full of the sauce and I can only taste the sauce, nothing much about the tofu. Negima (Grilled Chicken with Leek) is another No-no. The chicken is too tough and hard to chew. The leek is really tough as well and reminded me why I hate to eat vegetable 15 years ago. The sauce is just salty and that's it. The whole thing is overcooked too much and, looks not really appetizing from the beginning. Yaki Tori (Grilled Chicken with salts) is a little too soft for chicken meat. I prefer it to be much more tender. Taste wise, it's really good and not really salty. Sake Kama Ankake (Salmon Head with Soup) is basically salmon head cubes dipped in sauce. I don't think this is a soup, more like sauce because it's too thick. The salmon head dipped in the sauce results in being too soft. Imagine dipping fried chicken in water. Taste is fine but not really nice to chew especially when there are some many fish bones. Beef Negi (Grilled Beef wrapped with green onion). Green onion suppose to be different with leek, right? But this one taste like the leek I had before. But the beef is good in terms of tenderness and taste. Somehow taste like chicken... The sauce is kind of like grilled soy sauce. Smoked Duck Salad has too little smoke ducks. The vegetable is just okay. Crunchy and fresh. The dressing a little sour and salty thou. One of our to-try item: Wasabi Ice Cream. First, I'm curious why is it pale yellow? Second, there is no wasabi taste or anything. Taste really plain. For ice cream, I would recommend green tea.

Umai-Ya Damansara outlet is located at Damansara Uptown or AKA Damansara Utama, the area near Tropicana City, Atria, and Bandar Utama. There are many ways to reach Damansara Uptown depending on where are you coming from.

The nearest path to reach Umai-Ya after you enter Damansara Uptwon is to enter the road where Village Park Nasi Lemak Restaurant (one of the best Nasi Lemak in town) is and go straight. Umai-Ya is in the same lots of Village Park Nasi Lemak Restaurant, 7 eleven, Caring Pharmacy, Starbucks, HSBC Bank, Dai.komm Coffee, and (the famous) Uptown Hokkian Mee. Umai-Ya located right beside Starbucks and somewhere in the middle of Uptown.

If you are totally new in Damansara Uptown, do not worry because the entire place layout is one huge square. You only need to drive in a loop inside Uptown and you will eventually see them. The only problem is the parking because Uptown is full of people time to time and parking is really limited.

Rating

Quality

Good. I would say quality in terms of taste is between average and good. It's more than average because most of the foods are better than any usual Japanese food you can find out there but consider that you are paying for a decent Japanese lunch buffet, I wouldn't say it's really good that I will miss it or highly recommend it to others. Other than that, most of the food presentation is really good and looks appetizing when the food is being served.

Portion

Good. Despite this is all-you-can-eat buffet, my rating is based on how much food you can enjoy before you can't take it any more. Just like all buffet style, many of their food are heavily covered with sauce. Good thing is you can choose the quantity you want and their minimum quantity is quite reasonable. So it's easier to control and you won't get to over eat too soon. Most of the serving is not too small, yet not too big. I guess that's the ideal portion for buffet. Go with the proper buffet method: take something light such as appetizer or salad, take some main and sides, back to veggie, and go on and on... you won't over eat it too easily and eat until the last minute is possible.

Cost

Worthy. I don't consider their food quality really good, but cost wise still consider worthy as there are some really great stuff that they can offer. But I would probably recommend something else if you looking for buffet around this price.

Service

Average. Customer service wise is consider normal. Nothing like friendly or greet me when I walked right into the place even when staff and waiter saw me. Serving times for foods are usually within 5 to 10 minutes. The only problem is the disappearance of waiter (yes, only one waiter) time to time.

Environment

Good. It would be great if it's as authentic as what stated in the website. There are some Japanese deco that able to make you feel like you are dining in a Japanese restaurant, but it's not as authentic as what they had stated in the website in my opinion. For a buffet lunch, the overall environment is quite comfortable and enjoyable.

Next Visit?

I'm willing to explore more on other type of foods especially mains like sukiyaki and grilled stuff. Let's see when do I get the chance then.

Dine-in Date: 9th November 2015

The first Red Lobster branch that I saw was at The Curve, and I heard that the price was up to RM200+... but since I don't always travel around Damansara area so I didn't have a chance to see what Red Lobster offer until they are open in Mid Valley.

Unfortunately, I do not get to experience dining in Red Lobster from the time when I'm still working around Mid Valley, and I do not have much time to go back to Mid Valley to try this. Well, at least now I'm able to do so thanks to my leave day.

About The Red Lobster

The Red Lobster is one of the largest seafood restaurant chain around the globe. The first restaurant was originally established in Lakeland, Florida in the year of 1968. Today, The Red Lobster has more than 750+ branches worldwide. The Red Lobster is under the company of Darden Restaurant, which is also the same for Olive Garden.
The Red Lobster is a casual-looking restaurant from the inside-out but except that they serve high quality seafood cuisine. They might not look too special from the outside. But they say you can't judge a book by its cover. And since you know it's a restaurant that specialize in lobster, you can't expect the price to be ordinary. As you may expect, The Red Lobster is one of those restaurants that you might pay more than RM200++ for a single dish if you want.

In Red Lobster, you either find 100% seafood dishes or seafood dishes merging with other type of food such as meat and salad. So dining into Red Lobster, you can only have seafood unless you order sides. Food range from pasta, pizza, soup, salad, cakes, and drinks such as coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk shakes, and mock tails.

They offer "value lunch" but do look closely to know that not all listed in the lunch set menu are RM19.90, there is only one pasta that cost RM19.90, and the rest cost much more than RM19.90. Some even cost more than RM100. This is one of the expensive lunch set I seen out there. The set included a soup and a bottomless drink.

Despite being "value lunch", it's not the type of set meals that allows you to try out some of the food because it's cheaper or look for some cheap set lunch to save some money because there are only 3 type of dishes in the lunch menu that is under RM50. How common it is to find set lunch that cost more than RM50? Probably that's why they mention "value lunch" in the sense that the value is based on their good food quality, not set lunch. But if you are looking for a slightly expensive or really expensive set lunch, here is the place for you.

The Red Lobster started their operation in Malaysia's KL City since 2014 and established few branches within a year. Up to this date, The Red Lobster has several branches in Malaysia which located at The Intermark KL, Gamuda Walk, Quill City Mall, Sunway Putra Mall, The Curve, and Mid Valley.

About The Food

As included in the set meal, this mushroom soup is nothing special. The garlic bread is quite nice, good to have it for breakfast. Quite tasty when you dipped the garlic bread and eat along with the soup. But not a bowl of delicious mushroom soup that I'm going to miss.

The Cheddar Bay biscuit is soft & crunchy, except that it's a little dry and lacking of aroma and taste. I was expecting the top layer to have some crust and nice bites but it doesn't. I can only taste some salty flavor in each bite.

Caribbean Salmon and Shrimp (RM59.90) is one of the recommended food in the menu. As a huge fan of salmon and shrimp, this one caught my attention a lot. But it's actually just aroma rice, pan fried salmon and prawn, served with mango & pineapple cubes. For the salmon, it's a huge letdown because I can cook better than that and I'm not joking. The only thing that it's good is because it's fresh, well cooked, and it's big. On the other hand, it's quite dry and the taste is kind of lacking so I need eat with the mango and pineapple cubes just so that it's not too dry and has some taste.

The shrimp is pretty good, full of flavors, tasty, well cooked, and crunchy. It's kind of cover up the taste of the salmon after eating the shrimp.

Seafood Marinara (RM29.90) is one of the item that we order from the lunch set, just so that we can get the soup and drinks. The spaghetti is good, nice to chew, soft and smooth. The tomato basil sauce is really good. Great taste but not too over, creamy texture, nice to eat with spaghetti and seafood. The satisfying part is the pasta covered up by lots and lots of nice chewing, full of flavor and well cooked scallops, shrimp and mussels.
Here's the price of each type of lobster per 100 grams. Apparently, this 3 type is the lobster "breed" they have. Not a huge fan of lobster and don't know if the price is reasonable or not.

It's at the outside of Mid Valley facing the Gardens Mall direction, same location as ground floor Starbucks around the center court, Nichinan Jidoriya, Old Town White Coffee Express and Kim Garry. Quality

Good. The overall quality in terms of taste is good, although not up my expectation. The letdown is not just the salmon, is because despite the good tasty seafood quality, it's not something that has the "wow" feeling and there is nothing really special about the dishes. This comment is being made without trying the lobster of course, but my rule stated that a food is available in the menu so they have to be good.

Portion

Good. Portion is quite okay, I don't feel too stuffy finishing the pasta sauce, just slightly stuff. The Caribbean Salmon & Shrimp has good portion. For big eater, perhaps need more rice.

Cost

Not Worthy. The price is really too much for foods that are not really special and the quality is not really that high. You can get much better choices out there with lower price.

Service

Good. Friendly staff, but perhaps need some improvement in English speaking. And always available when we need to call for them. Not sure if you are sitting outside. The serving speed is quite fast too, sides and drinks arrive within minutes, and main meals arrive within 10 minutes.

Environment

Good. Typical relaxing and chit-chatting place. Good for ordinary lunch, tea time, and dinner, as well as celebration. Overall decoration is quite classy and comfortable. Soft music and peaceful even when lots of people in the restaurant (unless people are shouting of course). More than enough to have a good feeling that you are dining in a decent restaurant for tasty seafood.

Dine-in Date: 29th November 2015 It has been at least 7 or 8 years since I last came to Taman Desa. If it's not because of cafe hunt, it's gonna take longer for me to realize how different this place had became compare to the last time I'm here. I'm totally surprise and amazed of how much Taman Desa had changed over the years. And I'm only visiting one part of the place which I used to hang around a lot when I was still a student there.

Especially Faber Tower, it's giving me a feeling like I walk into an unbelievable fantasy world because Faber Tower used to be a building that literally has nothing other than few shops open for some simple services like printing shops, groceries, and small restaurant. Other than that, the entire design, layout and environment is totally dull and all of us believe that the closing of Faber Tower is just a few years time back to year 2007/08. Although there are lots of empty shops now, but there are some nice cafes and super market, and it looks totally new and expandable.

Okay back to Sunconure Gateau Cafe. Today I just decided to visit this place that gave me so much of memories because I don't feel like going too far away like PJ area, and my intention was just to hang around and see what's new there. When I got really amazed of what's inside of Faber Tower, I passed by Sunconure Gateau Cafe and the colorful, simple yet comfortable environment attracted my cafe hunts senses. It doesn't took me long before I decided to add this cafe into my blogging list.

About SunConure Gateau Cafe

Sunconure Gateau Cafe is a new cafe. There isn't much info I could obtain about this cafe. I just found out that they open quite recently, around earlier November 2015.

Sunconure, or Sun Conure, is a type of parrot with bright color and beautiful appearance in South America. They also known as Sun Parakeet. You can see the Sunconure parrot as their symbol of the cafe before you enter the shop and in their menu.

Perhaps it's the owner's favorite type of bird due to their appearance. The owner of Sunconure Gateau Cafe is a designer who work on the design and environment of the cafe. Thus, you won't get the ordinary type of just-another-cafe feeling when you look at it from the outside and when you enter the place.

The entire place is mostly on wooden furniture but added with some greeny decoration and flowers. It's kind of like dining in a simple yet beautiful garden. I think one of the strong impact is the green bushes in random places and the greeny wall near to the seats that provide the comfy feeling. Sunconure Gateau Cafe serve western cuisines range from sandwich, waffle, muffin, cookies, burgers, as well as drinks such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and etc. The only lacking is their tea, as they only serve English Tea and Early Gray. Their menu is just right beside the counter. You can grab the menu, get a seat and take your time deciding what you want. You gotta make your order at the counter upon deciding what you want. If you need recommendation, you can always ask the staff for recommendation and they are really friendly.

There isn't much customers when I was there. But I'm guessing if there are a few tables of customers there and their focus is to chit-chat, the place can be quite noisy. Other than that, it's a peaceful place with great lighting for reading and study/working purpose. There are variety of affordable desserts and light snacks to fill up your stomach too.

Sweet Delights

This is their home made cookies and some of the best cookies I had so far, although I don't have too much experience when comes to cookies and biscuit. And guess what? IT'S FREE!! Maybe because of promotion. But still happy as i didn't expect this. I did not manage to get the name of the two type of cookies, but apparently it's ginger bread man and raisin & nuts cookie. The ginger bread man is not the expected shape that we can see from other place but the taste is really nice. It has slightly soft and crunchy texture, unlike cookies that only allow you to taste the hardness of cookie. Does it contain ginger taste? I'm not sure but I could taste slight sweetness but not too much. There is a type of aroma that I couldn't explain as it's not really strong, but the overall taste is really great. And the raisin & nuts cookie is superb. Soft and crunchy texture as well and same goes to the contains, yet so full of different kind of nutty tastes mixed into one bite. i'm starting to miss the cookies already. The Chocolate Caramel Banana Waffle (RM11.50) is my adventurous decision, and I really want to say that it's worth much more than the price. The waffle itself is nothing too special other than soft and chewy, it's the ordinary waffle that has the standard quality. The real deal is the banana and sauce on top of the waffle.

The banana is just perfect. Fresh, soft, sweet, superb. I can't really taste the caramel, perhaps it's mixed into the sauce. But the sauce is extremely good. I love it when it's not over sweet, in the sense that I can't taste anything other than sweetness. It's the moderate type of sweet that give delectable sensation in your mouth as you eat along with the waffle but the sweetness does not overtake the whole chewing experience.

Not to forget the ice cream and the cream. The cream is soft and really smooth, just not my preference to consume too much of it. The chocolate ice cream is less sweet, just enough for you to taste the chocolate flavor and add the cooling taste as you chew it with the waffle. The Signature Flat White (RM9.50) has a smooth texture and great flavor to spend some peaceful and quiet time in the rainy day. it would be great if I can have a view to the outside, staring at the rainy scene. I wasn't quite sure what was missing at that time when the staff ask how was the coffee. I think a stronger aroma and espresso taste in this Flat White would be great.

SunConure Gateau Cafe is located inside ground floor of Faber Tower. If you enter Faber Tower through the main entrance, you will find Macaroni food place on your left and a Japanese restaurant on your right; If you enter by the side door, you will find washroom either on your left or right, depending on which side you going in; Entering the backdoor is basically the entrance of De market.

Entering from the main entrance, turn to your left at the further walkway after passing by the escalator on your right. You will see SunConure Gateay Cafe really soon.

If you are entering from any of the side doors, check out the walkway on your left. If you are lucky, you will see SunConure Gateau Cafe very soon. Otherwise, do not worry too much as the place is not really big. Walk around a little and you will find them.

Look for the wooden board surrounded with greeny plants to find them.

Quality

Good. The pastries is surprisingly good as it's hard to expect such standard in Faber Tower (probably because I'm still having the old Faber Tower in mind). Food range from sandwich, burger, waffle, muffin, and cookies. You get to choose if you want heavy or light snacks. Drinks range is not too much but quite sufficient. In overall, it's really satisfying and food quality comparable with other cafes that have good reviews. Gotta explore more on variety of foods to find out.

Portion

Good. The portion is unexpectedly good as I'm quite surprise that their food could fill me up, instead of leaving me some sweet taste in the mouth but feel nothing in the stomach. If you are looking for sweet delicacies for a second round meal, the food range here consist of medium size meal to light snacks, more than enough to fill up your sweets craving and appetite.

Cost

Highly Worthy. There are foods that charged at average price but there are also other foods that cost lower than other places while serve with great quality.

Service

Excellent. Fast serving speed especially coffee. Friendly and humble staffs that willing to provide recommendation to you and attentive to customers. Willing to serve you water without you asking is a great service too. The best thing? Free cookies~~

Environment

Excellent. Nothing too fancy other than some decorations at the counter based on green plants and gardening concept. But just right to demonstrate a bright and colorful concept with some plants and bushes at different corners. With the right lighting, the environment able to provide customers a peaceful and comfortable feeling like dining in a garden.

The layout of the tables and chairs are quite near to each other as the cafe isn't too big. It can be noisy when too many customers are around. But it's a great hiding place in the weekdays. What else to expect with a power cable available to you as you sit down?

Quite relief and surprise to find a hideout in Taman Desa. Now I got a stable place to go whenever I'm at Taman Desa. Of course, definitely come back for their waffle again and some cookies.

This will be one of the most special blog post I ever had because so far, the focus of my food blog was all about the food and the place but this post focus aloooooooot about CATS~~~~

As you would have guess from my blog title, cat cafe will not escape from my hunting list especially when this is one of the easy-to-reach place. I'm quite surprise that not many people knew this place thou.

Before I go into the detail of Purradise, it's furry time~~~ Before I manage to get to a seating place, this cat come to me by himself and he really like to stick with me. See? When cat feel comfortable with you, they would lie down beside you and allow you to touch and cuddle them.

Guess what? His name is "Lembu", means Cow. The worker said it's because of his size. I think the color of his fur also contribute to reason for his name too.

Lembu is the one that stick with me for most of the time since I enter the place until I left. Customers from other tables like him a lot too, as they keep calling for him.

He is really friendly. I can touch his chin and the belly, and he really like it. My cat would bite my hand if I touch her belly.... See how comfortable he is with a stranger like me. Or perhaps I spreading some aura that cats love?

They can wander around and the staffs don't need to look after them all the time. But as usual, they are naughty once in awhile and would mess around. But we usually don't need to worry about them too much because they would either stick with you or sit anywhere. Hey.... now only I notice the cat take a sip on my coffee when I'm busy taking picture around. Leaving your seat for too long give them a chance to dominate your seat. It's the first time that I need to fight for my own seat with the fur kids. And they frequently put up a good pose for you to capture their cute and purrtiful moment too~ Purrfect moment overload. I do not know why, but they seems to like my bag a lot..... Maybe my bag has the smell of my own cat.

Other than that, all they usually do is

~starring.... And sometimes stalk you from far away.

About Purradise

Purradise is a real cat cafe where you get to meet really cute, pretty and friendly cats when you enter the place. In fact, you won't really feel like it's a cafe due to the decorations, overall feeling of environment, and mostly because of so much of meows around. But it's still a cafe because they do serve food and nice coffee.

Nevertheless, you don't really feel like this is a cafe that you would get a cup of coffee/tea and buy yourself time and space to enjoy your day or do your stuff. The entire place is designated mostly for cats, and part of it is for the visitors to play with the cats. Basically, you can always sit on the floor or stick around with the cats anywhere you want because the floor is clean.

Even if it's for comfort, it's hard to find any cafe that offer beanie bag for the customers to sit. Of course, this is for you to get close to the cats because apparently, the cats love beanie bag too as they will stick around it and sit/sleep on it regardless if anyone is there or not.

And from the perspective of animals, they feel much more comfortable with people when they squat or sit down because standing up give a feeling of domination as our body size and heights seems bigger than them a lot.

There are even some tiny surface for cats t jump and down, and run around the cat's walkway near the ceiling and hide. Must be fun being a cat in this cafe eh? (Can you spot the ninja?)
All the cats in Purradise are strays that taken in by the owners. Apparently, the owner not only sprayed the cats, the cats are well trained, clean, and friendly, more like a household cat and much more friendly than my own cat (Don't get me wrong, my cat is still the best in my heart).

If you fall in love in any of the cats, you can request to take the cat back because they are open for adoption. I'm not sure about the procedure or any prerequisite if you want to adopt the cat, but I assume that you probably need to pay some fees because they take care of the cats really well.

How to Purrr?

Fees and Charges

This is the last thing you gonna do but the first thing you need to know. Here is how the fees and charges work:

Entrance fee: RM15 (compulsory) for first hour. Addition RM3 will be charged for subsequent 15 minutes.
Food & Drinks: RM12 or RM15 set meals

Yes, the entrance fee is RM15 when you enter the cafe and you can get a free drinks. Juice, coffee, or tea, it's up to you. For every additional 15 minutes staying there, you need to pay additional RM3. It's indeed not cheap as the price don't cover food, but spending time with the fur kids are really worthy as you will be surrounded with friendly and lovely cats. Here is how they label this as "Cat's Therapy", and it works really well as I enter into the place, they left no space for me to open my laptop to do any work. Even if I try to, they (the cats) will stick to me, leave me no chance to think about work.

If you want to order some foods, it would be either RM12 or RM15 meals and this will add on to your entrance fee, which means:

1. Choosing a RM12 meals = RM15 entrance fee + RM12 meals = RM27
2. Choosing a RM15 meals = RM15 entrance fee + RM15 meals = RM30
3. Without any meal = RM15 entrance fee = RM15

Most of their drinks are smoothies. They have very limited choices of coffee and tea.

Chicken with Melted Cheese (From RM15 set meal) doesn’t look special at first, but the following few bites will convince you that their sandwich is their specialty.

The wheat bread is not like some of the wheat bread I had out there that is very dry and hard to bite. This bread is soft and crunchy, it’s not dry at all and every single bite on the bread give a great aromatic taste of wheat.

I don’t really taste any cheese in the bread, maybe it’s mixed up with the chicken slice. Although the size of the chicken is small, but the taste is quite good and it’s a little salty, perhaps due to the cheese. No complaint to the veggie either, the chicken meat and veggie filling is not that huge but quite sufficient for this sandwich meal.

Side note, I suggest to eat something light first if you are planning to eat anything here. The sandwich here is not that big, but not that small either.

Oh and, extra be careful of Mocha, the cat in brown, black and white, he love the chips very much.
(This is Mocha) And the small cup of coffee that looks like McDonald kind of coffee does not looks impressive at first, but taking the first sip of the coffee made me understand not to judge the coffee by its cup appearance.

Although this is not a cup of Cappuccino that could compete with other much famous cafe out there, but it’s also not the type of ordinary coffee anywhere.

It’s lacking some aroma that a coffee should have, smelling it at first doesn’t give you the great-aroma feeling. The texture of the Cappuccino is quite watery, I don’t find the type of feeling that I want to have this cup of Cappuccino with me while I work through my afternoon. Despite that, the taste is quite good, and I would say quite acceptable for many people because it’s coffee taste is not really strong.

Golden Rules To Purr

Rules #1: Secure the door

When you step into the cafe, the first place you would arrive is a tiny room with nothing but shoe rack. There are two doors in this room: one to the outside and one to the inside of the cafe where all the cats await. When you are in this tiny room, always make sure no cats got into the room before you open the door that lead to outside so that they won't escape.

If any of them run into this room when you open the door from the inside of the cafe, do carry them out and make sure the door is secure before opening the door to the outside.

Rules #2: Take off your shoe

So remember don't wear any sock that has hole on it.

Rules #3: Pick a magic wand

This is optional but give you a great chance to attract the fur kids when you have the charm. Do remember to put them back when you finish using them.

Rules #4: Attract The Fur Kids

Here is a few ways to attract the cats and make them likes you. You can Google a bit for more method to attract the cats.

1. Put Your Hand In Front of Their Face

Show your hand to them. Cats depends heavily on their smell. Let them smell your hand and be comfortable with you and they will eventually get closer to you.

This is not always effective thou. They only like your smell if they like it. If you wash your hand with soap and make sure your hand is clean, they might not like the taste of the soap. So this can only depend on luck.

2. Tap Table Lightly to Attract Them

Cats are also curious about sounds around them. One of the common ways to attract them is to create sound on the table, chair, or wall that near to them. It's more effective when the sound bounce back with larger reflection.

You can try tapping at the edge of the table when you see any cats near the table And voila~

3. Caress Between Their Neck and Chin

Cats always love it when you do this. I wish I'm a cat to know why.

4. Use the Magic Wand effectively

If you are using the soft toys with a string attached to it, drag it on the floor and in front of the cats to grab their attention. Imagine it as a mice that wanted to be chased by the cats.

If you are using the one with a straight plastic stick attached with it, you can hide that thing behind the table or on top of the table and produce some sound. The curiosity of cat will make them try to identify what is hiding around the place.

5. Sit On the Floor

The most effortless action is just sit on the floor. They feel much more comfortable when you sit down because we human are larger being to them. Sit down or lower your body make them feel like you are smaller and closer to their height level.

Rules #5: Lookout for Your Food (if any)

Guess this is pretty much self-explained. Although they don't usually stick to you knowing that you have food, unless you try to attract them.

Rules #6: Don't Disturb The cats When They Sleep

FYI, Cats spend most of them sleeping. When the customers are getting lesser and the place is more quiet, they will look for their comfortable zone and sleep. Let them sleep, they still need to serve customers now and then.

If you are going by public transport, you can take Rapid U82. Quality

Good. Don't be tricked by the appearance of the meal, the sandwich is actually pretty good especially the texture and taste of the bread, in which most sandwiches and breads out there don't really bother about it. The coffee is just nice, not bad but would be better if it contain of good aroma and better taste of coffee.

Portion

Nice. Somewhere more than a light snack and less than a main meal. If you had a main meal, then it's not advisable to go for their food. Else, you can take their sandwich and go for something light afterwards.

Cost

Less-Worthy. The entrance fee is quite costly. If you order food, it would double up if you order the food. The main concern is the RM15 fee is just for the first hour, staying longer means adding more cost for your expenses in this cafe. So it's not a good idea if you looking for a cafe to experience few hours of nice and relaxing session.

Service

Good. Staffs are friendly and talkative, and always take care of the cats with patient as expected. Food serving is a little slow. And sometimes they are not around when I need them.

Environment

Excellent. It's my first time getting into a cafe that doesn't make me feel like an ordinary cafe. Nice and colorful decoration that make me envy the cats so much. But at the same time, most of the designs are meant for both human and cat to enjoy human-cat's moment. Even putting all those factors aside, having the cats around already make the environment beyond excellent, and worthy to be known as a place of "Cat's Therapy".

Next Visit?

Yup. I'm quite eager to go back for the cats, just feeling hesitate and concern because of the entrance fee.
